The performance of the Al Welsh Orchestra big band on April 17 will be a unique opportunity to enjoy the dance music of the Big Band era. Sponsored by the Jay Nugent reunion, the evening will include those returning for a weekend reflecting on the memories and music from the WCHS classes of 1975 through 1981, who were in the band then directed by Nugent. American Legion to host baked potato bar Friday

The American Legion will be hosting a loaded baked potato dinner on Friday at their location at 726 Second St. This will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. or until they run out of food. The toppings for the baked potato bar include whipped butter, sour cream, bacon bits, chives, black beans, black olives, salsa, chili, pulled pork, (fresh) steamed broccoli and three cheese options. This is a fundraiser for the Legion, and proceeds from this meal will be used to help repair the flags flown in the cemeteries and other American Legion projects. The Webster City Women’s Club will be opening their 2026 exhibits at the Jane Young House this Saturday at 10 a.m. The Jane Young House is located at 629 Elm St., where the new vintage clothing exhibits are assembled. Hospital Auxiliary scholarship deadline near

The Van Diest Medical Center Auxiliary is offering six scholarships of $1,000 each to 2026 high school graduates wishing to pursue a career in healthcare. Individuals going back to further their education in the healthcare field will also be considered. Public hearings to be held Tuesday and Wednesday

The public hearing for the Hamilton County maximum levy will be 6 p.m. Wednesday. This will be held in the basement meeting room of the Hamilton County Courthouse located at 2300 Superior St. After the county hearing, there will be a meeting for the Hamilton County Assessor’s budget and levy discussion.
