Self-Defense Workshop Saturday

Kendall Young Library in conjunction with the Webster City Police Department will be hosting a Women’s Self-Defense Workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday. This event is open to ages 13 and up. This event is free; no registration is required.

Kendall Young book club to meet tonight

The Kendall Young Library Adult evening book club meets today. The Adult Evening Book Club will be discussing the book “Ragtime” by E.L. Doctorow. The Kendall Young Library is located at 1201 Willson Ave. Entry is through the parking lot, and the discussion will be held in the lower level meeting room from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The May Book Club books will be available at this time.

Second Sunday Supper is Saturday

LEHIGH — The Lehigh United Methodist Church will hold its Second Sunday Supper from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the church. This month, the church will again serve a hot turkey sandwich with potatoes and gravy, dessert and a drink. The cost is a freewill donation. Carryouts are available.

Rowan’s Night of Country Music to be held April 18

ROWAN — Listen to an evening of live classic country music with the scheduled performers lined up for Rowan’s Night of Country Music. The event will be held at 901 Broadway St. in Rowan at the Iowa River Players Theater. The performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. on April 18. The doors will open at 6 p.m. A freewill offering will be the admittance with the proceeds going to help with the upkeep on the Rowan Iowa River Players Theater. Blood Drive at VDMC Thursday

The Webster City Community Blood Drive is scheduled for Thursday, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Van Diest Medical Center Clinic Board room. The clinic is located at 2350 Hospital Drive. Appointments are encouraged by calling 800-287-4903. Walk-ins are welcome. Donate blood and you will receive a Scooters cookie and a 20% coupon for the Hospital Gift shop.
