French Church hosts Ice Cream social Memorial Day weekend

The French Church of Woolstock is hosting an Ice Cream Social on Saturday from 10 to 2 p.m. The French Church is located three miles east of Woolstock on County Road C70, near Keokuk Avenue. This special open house is a come and go event, helping families and friends of the French Church celebrate their heritage, and remember those who have gone before. The open house will help showcase some of the preservation efforts they have made with the church and cemetery. Donations to help continue their efforts will be accepted.

Hamilton County Board of Health meets today

The monthly meeting of the Hamilton County Board of Health will be held at 5:15 p.m. today. This will be held at 1610 Collins St., Suite 1, in the Conference Room. On the agenda are the administrator’s report, financial report and environmental services reports. Discussion will include Healthy Hometowns cancer program, an amendment for a six-year emergency response amendment for influenza A, contracts for LPHS and Immunizations and pending grant applications.

Cemetery Flag removal schedule after Memorial Day

The American Legion Post 191 will be coordinating the removal of the flags the week after Memorial Day. Those who own and store their personal flags will need to remove those on Tuesday. The Legion also encourages community members to assist who are able to join Legion coordinators on Wednesday to take down the remainder of the flags. Wilson Brewer Park Foundation meets today

The Wilson Brewer Park and Depot Foundation will meet today at 6 p.m. This is a change of time and day of the week. The meeting will be held in the Depot basement conference room, located at 220 Ohio St. Under new business, there will be discussions about the courthouse sign and new electric sign, updates on phone, internet and QR updates, request for use of the courthouse for a wedding, advertising, fall festival art display, Airstream travelers, train display and updates in communications.

The Webster City Women’s Club invites you to the Jane Young House, 629 Elm St, Webster City on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. view their new clothing exhibit and house. The clothing exhibit highlights fashions from 1947, Happy Birthday America, and a collection of clothing from former and current retail stores in Webster City. An additional room is dedicated to the history of the Women’s Club. There are lots lots of history and a beautiful house to view. A free will donation is appreciated and it is handicapped accessible.
