Road to be closed during bridge replacement in southern Hamilton County

On Friday, Ubben Avenue, or Hamilton County Road R61, will be closed to through traffic from Hamilton County Road D65 (380th Street) north to Iowa Highway 175 (330th Street) for a bridge replacement project, 1.5 miles south of Highway 175. Through traffic is expected to use the signed detour route. The closure is expected to last for about five to six weeks. SALT meeting next Thursday features WC2DC travel program

The June Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) meeting will be held beginning at 9 a.m. June 4 at the Van Diest Medical Center Clinic Board Room, 2350 Hospital Drive in Webster City. Please enter through the exterior door. Refreshments will be served, and Van Diest Medical Center personnel will provide free blood pressure checks. Wednesday Night in the Park begins tonight in Stanhope

Wednesday nights in the summer, the City of Stanhope will host Wednesday Night in the Park. The family friendly event begins at 5 p.m., with the food stand opening at 5:30 p.m. Music begins at 5 p.m. The T-ball game will take place on the ball diamond, and a cheering section is always encouraged. From 6:30 p.m. on Bingo will be held. Families are encouraged to bring a chair, and to bring all the friends and family. Music at the first event is by Jake Doty and sponsored by the Stanhope Lions Club. The evening activities conclude at 8 p.m.

Legacy Learning, Boone River Valley holds workshop Saturday

Legacy Learning-BRV will hold a workshop to create a mosaic Peace Pole from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday to use on porches, gardens or other outdoor spaces. The workshop will be held at Legacy Learning, located at 719 Seneca St. in Webster City. Kevin Rubash of Interior Spaces and Di Sinclair will guide participants step by step through the process. The workshop fee will include a durable vinyl peace pole, mosaic tiles and materials and the pole will be ready to take home at the end of class. The cost is $60 for materials and instruction.
