Ladies Night Out Next Thursday

Make plans now to be in downtown Webster City next Thursday night for the annual Ladies Night Out event on Oct. 9. Stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and popup businesses will be open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nearly two dozen businesses will be participating in this event, which are gearing their inventory to holiday shopping, critical to our small local retail businesses. A map of participating businesses will be available in a special insert in next week’s Daily Freeman Journal.

Pet Blessings to be held Sunday

The 2025 TLC Pet Blessing, sponsored by The Webster City Vet Clinic will be held Sunday at the West Twin Park. The pet blessings are from 4 to 6 p.m. in the main shelter, located in the park on the west side of Superior St. Live music, pet balloons, pet tattoos, and other goodies will be available for pet lovers. Food can be ordered from The Seneca Street Saloon for delivery. There is no fee for a blessing for your pet. All are welcome to participate.

Kendall Young Library has adult programs in October

Kendall Young Library will be having adult programs throughout the month of October. Here’s a list: Morbid Curiosities — An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe. This is an evening of storytelling by Darrin Crow. He will bring life to Morbid Curiosities — An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe. Storytelling begins at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 13. Iowa storyteller Crow will bring Gothic horror master Edgar Allan Poe to life in “Morbid Curiosities — An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe.” Crow tells powerful, imaginative, engaging stories that keep audiences on the edge of their seats and ...

Central Iowa Junk Jaunt kicks off this weekend

The Central Iowa Junk Jaunt will begin on Friday and continue through Sunday in several Hamilton County communities extending south through Story and Boone counties. Jewell, Stratford and Williams are all part of this year’s event. A map is available by going to www.centraliowajunkjaunt.com The Central Iowa Junk Jaunt is in its 17th year.

Washington, DC, trip explained at Sept. 30 meeting

A trip to the nation’s capital is being organized for April 2026. Patsy Brock, who organized the WC to DC trips for over 30 years, will be holding an informational meeting on Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Sampson room at Fuller Hall Registrations will be needed by Nov. 4.
