Lehigh United Methodist Church to host Second Sunday Supper set for Jan. 11 in Lehigh

The Lehigh United Methodist Church will hold its next Second Sunday Supper on Sunday evening, Jan. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. The church is located at 386 Spencer Hill in Lehigh. The dinner will include scalloped potatoes and ham, along with a dessert and a drink. There is no set charge, but free will donations will be accepted. In case of inclement weather, contact the church after 4 p.m. at 515-359-2329 to assure the event is still taking place.

Christmas trees to be picked up today

The Webster City Street Department will be picking up Christmas trees today, weather permitting. Trees should be placed at the nearest street corner prior to 7 a.m. today as only one trip will be made through the City. Please remove all stands and decorations and place these trees so they will not obstruct sight distance and not blow into the street to create a traffic hazard. Bagged trees or trees with a stand attached will not be picked up.

Community Blood Drive is Thursday

The Webster City Community Blood Drive is scheduled for Thursday at Van Diest Medical Center. The drive will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Van Diest Medical Center Clinic Board Room located at 2350 Hospital Drive.  Appointments are encouraged and can be made by calling 800-287-4903. Walk-ins are also welcome. Those who donate blood will receive a Scooters cookie and a coupon for 20% off a hospital gift shop purchase.

Hamilton County Peace Officers Association considering Citizens Academy

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s office is seeking individuals to participate in a Citizens Academy in 2026. This would involve commiting to attending a class once a week for eight to 10 weeks in the spring. The Sheriff’s Office is intentionally avoiding the most active farming season to encourage more participants. At least 20 participants would be necessary to start the academy. The weekly meetings would help those involved learn about the different aspects of law enforcement. If interested, contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office at 515-832-9500.

Teen Lounge – Patrons in sixth-12th grades are invited each Tuesday in January from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Join us weekly for special activities, video games, snacks, crafts, board games, and more.
