Scholarships available from Van Diest Medical Center Auxiliary

The Van Diest Medical Center Auxiliary is offering six scholarships of $1,000 each to 2026 high school graduates wishing to pursue a career in healthcare. Individuals going back to further their education in the healthcare field will also be considered. Applicants must be a resident of Hamilton County or a graduate of any high school within Hamilton County, currently working or have a parent working at Van Diest Medical Center at the time of the award. Citizens Academy to start next week

The Hamilton County Peace Officers Association and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office are working together to provide a Citizens Academy to educate private citizens to the roles our law enforcement officers play in keeping citizens safe. This free program will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 19 in the basement conference room at the Hamilton County Courthouse at 2300 Superior St. Applications are available at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office located on the second floor of the courthouse. CPR training at Williams Library on Friday, March 27

Sara Zorn will teach a free CPR training class held at the Willliams Public Library. This will be held in the Williams Library, with a time to be determined, based on interest. The library is located at 216 Main St. For more information, call the library director Gabby Streigle at 515-667-2167.

Drop in activities to be held at Kendall Young Library on Saturday

The Kendall Young Library will host drop-in activities for children in the library’s children’s department from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Magna-Tiles will be available to create or build. Library hours are: Mondays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays-Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Kendall Young Library is located at 1201 Willson Ave. in Webster City. Legislative forum rescheduled for this Saturday

The Legislative session with state Sen. Shannon Latham, R-Sheffield, and state Sen. Dennis Guth, R-Klemme, has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday. It will be held at the Iowa Central Community College Campus, 1725 Beach St., in Webster City. The legislative session is co-sponsored by the Greater Hamilton County Growth Partnership and the Iowa Central Community College. All are invited to attend.

Legacy Learning hosts workshop on sourdough bread

On Thursday, Rachel Stuber of Back 40 Co., will teach a hands-on class on sourdough baking. The workshop begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Legacy Learning studio, located at 719 Seneca St. in Webster City. The cost is $20. This is a repeat class from the January session, but they are offering it again, as it filled so quickly. To register call 515-835-1264.
