Summer Reading program begins next week at Kendall Young Library

Kendall Young Library will be celebrating the coming of summer with a Family Summer Kickoff Party on the lawn. Participants may gather for live music and food from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on May 31. This fun family event will offer games, face painting and a balloon artist. Bring a lawn chair and the whole family for this great event, which is sponsored by Fareway Meat & Grocery. Wilson Brewer Park museum open this weekend

The Depot museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. today and Saturday. The Depot is located within the Wilson Brewer Park, at 220 Ohio St. Historic collections about Webster City are on display throughout the building. Jane Young House open Saturday

The Jane Young House, 629 Elm St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to view their new clothing exhibit and house. The clothing exhibit highlights fashions from 1947, Happy Birthday America, and a collection of clothing from former and current retail stores in Webster City. Another room is dedicated to the history of the Webster City Women’s Club. Lots of history and a beautiful house to view. A freewill donation is appreciated and it is handicapped accessible.

Congregate Meals fundraiser today from 4 to 7 pm.

The Webster City Congregate meals coordinators are offering a special meal on Friday night before citywide garage sales and Junquefest kick off on Saturday morning. From 4 to 7 p.m., a meal can be purchased to eat in or carry out at the Senior Citizens building, located at 749 Second St. The menu includes sloppy joes, baked beans, pea salad, a cookie and water or coffee all for $10. Special music will also be provided from 5 to 6 p.m. This fundraiser has been given extra support from Webster City Custom Meats, Fareway and HyVee.

French Church hosts Ice Cream Social Saturday

The French Church of Woolstock is hosting an Ice Cream Social from 10 to 2 p.m. Saturday. The French Church is located three miles east of Woolstock on Hamilton County Road C70, near Keokuk Avenue. This special open house is a come and go event, helping families and friends of the French Church celebrate their heritage, and remember those who have gone before. The open house will showcase some of the preservation efforts they have made with the church.

Wilson Brewer Park Foundation meets today

The Wilson Brewer Park and Depot Foundation will meet today at 6 p.m. This is a change of time and day of the week. The meeting will be held in the Depot basement conference room, located at 220 Ohio St. Under new business, there will be discussions about the courthouse sign and new electric sign, updates on phone, internet and QR updates, request for use of the courthouse for a wedding, advertising, fall festival art display, Airstream travelers, train display and updates in communications.
