School board to recognize wrestling, speech teams

The Webster City school board will recognize high school wrestlers and speech students Monday night during the regular board session at 6 p.m. at the School Administration Building, 820 Des Moines St.

Both the wrestling team and the speech team fared well in recent state competitions.

The board will also receive the resignation of board member Michelle Walters who will be moving from the community. Walters will also resign from the interim board as well.

The board is also will hear the final reading of several board policy updates.

Also on the agenda are two contracts for approval. A special education contract with North Central Consortium School and Manson Northwest Webster Community School District and an agreement with Computer Information Concepts will be considered by the board.

The board is also expected to accept the resignation of part-time high school custodian Riley Bedford and approve a recommendation to hire Chelsey Wagoner as softball assistant coach.

Immediately following the Webster City board meeting, the interim board of Northeast Hamilton and Webster City districts will meet.

The interim board will present its initial contract proposal to the Webster City Education Association and the Webster City Educational Services Association. The two unions each presented initial proposals to the board two weeks ago.

The board is expected to set a public hearing date for the Fiscal Year 202 budget.

Also on the agenda is a cooperative agreement with the University of Northern Iowa for potential student teacher placements.

Contract recommendations for three positions — high school counselor, high school physical education and elementary guidance counselor — will be considered by the board members.
