City amends fiscal year 2025 budget

The City Council of Webster City on Monday amended the City’s fiscal year 2025 budget, reducing its revenue by $11,914,448 and expenditures by $3,050,392.

Fiscal year 2025 ends June 30, 2025.

Some of the most significant revenue relative to the amendment is $3 million budgeted for the Fair Meadow 2 Project that is now anticipated to be received by the City after the last day of the fiscal year, and $7.5 million the City had anticipated needing for the beginning phase of the new Wastewater Treatment Plant.

That project will not be ready for bids by the end of FY25.

The amended FY2025 budget also reflects an increase in Capital Projects by $3.4 million, which includes:

— An additional $250,000 for the Willson Brewer Road Project;

— $1.95 million for the Fair Meadow 2 Project;

— $1.2 million for the Beach Street Project that had originally appeared in the fiscal year 2026 budget.

Also in amended expenses are $300,000 for Airport projects that occurred in FY25, but were budgeted in the prior year; $336,233 for the East Twin Park Splash Pad and Kendall Young Shelter Projects that were both budgeted in FY24.

The following $306,375 in expenses are also included in the amended budget, including in part a $62,000 loan with True Value; $82,375 paid to the Ames Regional Economic Alliance; $50,000 to LIFT Webster City; $60,000 as an IEDA Tax credit for DHQ Investments on the Lynx Development; $27,000 in Hotel/Motel Grants paid from prior year obligations.

Starting at $3.46/week.
