The Webster City girls tennis squad dropped an 8-1 decision to Boone here Monday evening. Alivia Burns picked up the lone win, as the junior scored a straight-set victory in singles. Burns bested Juliana Lutz at the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-1. JEFFERSON — The Webster City girls track and field team picked up two firsts, two seconds and a pair of thirds here Monday night at the Ram Relays. Isabel Grossoehme captured the 800-meter run and ran the anchor on the winning sprint medley relay for the Lynx. Grossoehme went 2:29.87 to win the 800 and paired up with Isabel Weinschenk, Tristyn Wright and Cloe Savitski to capture the sprint medley title in 1:54.59. PELLA — The Webster City girls tennis team took on two of the top teams in the state here Friday in a triangular with Pella and Dike-New Hartford. The Lynx lost both duals by scores of 9-0. Pella claimed all nine matches in straight sets, as Alivia Burns scored four games at No. 3 singles and Cyra Christensen did the same at the No. 4 slot. ALLEMAN — The Webster City boys tennis team lost to North Polk, 9-0 on Thursday. “It was obviously a tough night for our boys,” said Webster City head coach Mark Fisher. “But also knowing that North Polk’s boys have been traditionally very strong. We’re still just working to build up a culture with our boys tennis program. “So even a match like this is good for them to learn some things and understand what it takes.” The Lynx are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Hampton-Dumont/CAL.

JEWELL — The South Hamilton girls golf team placed third here last Thursday behind Roland-Story and West Marshall in action. The Hawks finished with a team score of 251, as Roland-Story fired a 173 and West Marshall carded a 192. Arynn Luppes led the way for South Hamilton with a 58 while Sophie Nibe had a 63 and Grace Larson a 64. Both Ava Corbin and Sydney Gelder shot rounds of 66. The Hawks compete on Monday in a quadrangular with Panorama, Woodward-Granger and Bondurant-Farrar at Terrace Hills Golf Course in Altoona.
