POCAHONTAS — The South Hamilton football team looks to start October off with a win when they take on Pocahontas Area here Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the PAC Athletic Complex. This will cap the Indians’ homecoming week. NEVADA — The South Hamilton cross country team was in action here Monday at the Nevada Invitational. Jesus Garcia led the way for the Hawks, securing a bronze finish in the boys race. Garcia, a junior, clocked a time of 17:39, which was just eight seconds back of race winner Corben Lucchesi of Roland-Story. South Hamilton placed eighth overall, as PCM won team gold. WALL LAKE — Despite a 30-carry, 187-yard effort from sophomore Wyatt Gelder, the South Hamilton football squad couldn’t quite catch East Sac County here on Friday. The Raiders (2-3 overall) prevailed in this Class 1A, District 2 contest, 40-30. Gelder scored twice for the Hawks, who had 336 rushing yards. STORY CITY — The South Hamilton cross country team finished off a busy week by competing on Thursday at the Roland-Story Invitational. Jesus Garcia paced the Hawks, finishing 13th overall in the boys race. Ryler Hanson of Bondurant-Farrar won in a time of 16:23. Garcia crossed in 17:24.
