JEWELL — The South Hamilton wrestling team was in action here Saturday at the Doug Wood Invitational hosted by Manson Northwest Webster. The Hawks finished eighth overall, as Woodbury Central claimed team gold followed by Alta-Aurelia and the host Cougars. Leading the way for South Hamilton was Brody Harris, as the heavyweight placed third overall. Harris earned three wins, including two falls, winning his last three matches on the day. The South Hamilton girls closed out last week with a tough 30-27 loss on the road to Nevada. Tessa Skartvedt recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks (1-2 overall). Skartvedt also blocked seven shots to dominate in the paint against the Cubs (2-1). The night before, the Hawks fell at Iowa Falls-Alden, 53-31. The South Hamilton boys suffered a pair of road losses last week. The Hawks dropped a tough 55-52 decision to Iowa Falls-Alden last Thursday. They took a seven-point lead into the fourth on the road, but were unable to hold off the Cadets. AMES — The Webster City girls wrestling squad was in action here Saturday at a loaded Ames Invitational field. The 19-team event included winner Cedar Falls, host Ames, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Clear Lake, as the Lynx finished 16th overall. Liberty Gamble had the highest placing for Webster City, as she was fourth overall at 235 pounds.
