EARLHAM — The South Hamilton track and field teams scored Top-6 finishes here Tuesday at the Earlham Coed. Clarinda won the boys race with the Hawks placing fifth while Van Meter earned the girls title as South Hamilton was sixth overall. For the boys, they were first in three relays, as the quartet of Braden Young, Tanner Twedt, Nick Severseike and Kolby Hodnefield won the sprint medley, 4x100 and 4x200. IOWA FALLS — The Webster City girls tennis team pulled out a 5-4 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden here Tuesday in North Central Conference action. Morgan Hackbarth, Alivia Burns and Gabbie Sebert scored singles wins, as the doubles teams of Allie Severe and Burns, along with Hackbarth and Sebert, clinched the dual. The Webster City boys golf squad edged Carroll Kuemper and Panorama to open its season. The Lynx carded a 161, finishing just ahead of the Knights (163) and Panthers (165). Webster City’s Cael Nixon and Luke Firsching both carded two-over par 38s on the front nine to tie for second behind only Parker Cary of Panorama (37). Hewitt enters transfer portal

CEDAR FALLS — Former South Hamilton standout Carter Hewitt will enter the transfer portal when the spring cycle begins Wednesday for college football players. Hewitt spent the past four years at Northern Iowa following a standout career for the Hawks in multiple sports. The redshirt senior was expected to be a key piece of the defensive line for the Panthers this year. Last fall, Hewitt recorded a career-high 53 total tackles with 1.5 sacks for Northern Iowa, playing in all 12 games.
