CLEAR LAKE — The Webster City baseball team split a North Central Conference doubleheader here Monday night with Clear Lake. After falling in the opener, 4-2, the Lynx bounced back with a 12-2 win in five innings. Aiden Hrnicek drove in three runs while both Matthew Tesdahl and Brady Asklund played two runs each for Webster City in the victory. Asklund, Braylon Dyvig, Gavin Griffith and Alex Staley all scored two runs. Asklund and Hrnicek both recorded a double, and Asklund also stole three bases. CLEAR LAKE — A pair of tough innings kept the Webster City softball team from challenging North Central Conference co-leader Clear Lake here Monday night. The Lions scored four in the first and added five in the sixth to pick up a 10-2 victory. Jakaela Cherry had two hits. Morgan Hackbarth and Hailey Brim both drove in runs. With the loss, the Lynx saw their two-game win streak come to an end. Next action for Webster City will be against seventh-ranked (Class 1A) St. Edmond on Wednesday at home.
