South Hamilton continues volleyball surge

JEWELL — The South Hamilton volleyball squad swept Saydel on Thursday at home, improving to 13-10 on the season. Scores were 25-21, 25-11 and 21-19 in favor of the Hawks. Junior Tessa Skartvedt had 10 kills for South Hamilton. Junior Riah Van De Pol added seven. Senior Claire Hewitt (14) and junior Aliya Erickson (12) led the way in assists. BOONE — The Webster City girls tennis team came up short of advancing anyone through to individual state at a Class 1A regional tournament here Wednesday. The doubles team of Allie Severe and Alivia Burns finished third, securing a possible state bid as a alternate. The Webster City football team looks to regain momentum with the start of district play on the horizon when they host sixth-rated (Class 4A) Gilbert for Homecoming here Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Lynx Field. After being edged by No. 5 (4A) Fort Dodge, 7-6, two weeks ago, Webster City 1-2 overall) fell to second-ranked (3A) Clear Lake last Friday, 47-7. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. from Mike Penning Athletic Complex and Taylor Field.
