Webster City girls can’t find offensive rhythm

The Webster City girls were unable to overcome a slow start in a 60-28 loss to Clear Lake here on Monday night.

The Lions used an 18-8 run in the first quarter to take control of the contest, winning for the seventh straight time in the series.

Evie Davis had eight points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lynx (6-11 overall), as Jaylyn Bahrenfuss added six points and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Bahrenfuss also had two blocked shots and a steal.

Avery Poppen chipped in five points and Tristyn Wright recorded five rebounds for Webster City.

On Friday, the Lynx fell to No. 15 (Class 3A) Algona by a final of 47-27. Alivia Burns and Davis both scored nine points. Ashley Nydegger both added six off the bench.

Davis grabbed eight rebounds.

The Lynx heads to Clarion-Goldfield/Dows on Friday night. They have won two straight vs. the Cowgirls, including a 65-4 victory in early January.
