JEWELL — The South Hamilton boys claimed a 68-40 victory over Perry here Friday night.

After dropping the first meeting of the season by 30, the Hawks came out strong, taking control of the rematch early.

South Hamilton led by 11 at the break and held a commanding lead entering the fourth.

“We played our best quarter of the year in the third,” South Hamilton head coach Jay Heeren said. “We shared the ball and controlled the paint.

“It was a great crowd and a perfect night for our three seniors.”

The Hawks honored seniors Jose Babcock, Sam Koehnk and Luke Martensen. Koehnk scored a team-high 17 points. Martensen added 14 and Babcock two.

Ben Swenson also scored 14 for South Hamilton, with Jackson Olmstead chipping in eight. King Brown added five, Ryan Oskvig four and Kayden Dean two.

“Jackson was a big factor in getting the offense rolling,” Heeren said. “Koehnk, King and Babcock did a great job getting the ball to the bigs in Martenson and Swenson.

“Dean and Oskvig continue to improve, playing very good defense and providing help on the boards.”
