Lynx sweep Bulldogs

HAMPTON — The Webster City volleyball team moved above .500 with their second consecutive victory on Tuesday night.

The Lynx (9-8 overall) defeated Hampton-Dumont/CAL (3-7) in straight sets on the road, 25-15, 25-7, 25-17.

“The girls definitely came out with a different energy and stayed consistent,” said WCHS head coach Jess Howard. “They were strong and confident. We had a tournament last weekend and we found some rotations that helped.”

Tristyn Wright led Webster City’s attack, going 29-for-32 with 11 kills. Evie Davis was a perfect 15-for-15 with eight kills.

Jaylyn Bahrenfuss was 9 of 14 with six kills. Avery Poppen had five kills on 8 of 10 attacks.

Lovie Pruismann had 28 assists for the Lynx. Davis and Bahrenfuss led the Lynx in blocks with four and three, respectively.

At the service line, Poppen went 18-for-19 with six assists. Ashlee Nydegger was 11-for-12.

Morgan Hackbarth was 9 of 11 with an ace.

Hackbarth led the Lynx in digs with 16. Wright had seven, while Janey Putney and Burns had five each.

“I thought we were able to carry the momentum from set to set,” Howard said. “It was tight throughout the sets, but we were able to stretch the lead and we had a good mental approach.”

The Lynx are back in action on Thursday when they host St. Edmond at 7 p.m.

Starting at $3.46/week.
