Hawk harriers in action at Roland-Story
STORY CITY — The South Hamilton cross country team finished off a busy week by competing on Thursday at the Roland-Story Invitational.
Jesus Garcia paced the Hawks, finishing 13th overall in the boys race. Ryler Hanson of Bondurant-Farrar won in a time of 16:23. Garcia crossed in 17:24.
Hayden Hill was 15th, Kaden Greenlee finished 88th, Evan Gibson was 91st and Sterling Dietzle placed 94th for South Hamilton.
Bondurant-Farrar won team gold, followed by Ballard, Nevada, Clear Lake and North Polk. South Hamilton was 13th overall.
For the girls, Olivia Beaune finished 38th in 22:36. Madelyn Grothus from Madrid won gold in 19:16.
Cici Herrick was 60th for the Hawks, Bianca Seaton was 86th and Kayley Zanker was 95th.
Ballard won team gold. The Hawks placed ninth.
“It was a tough week with two meets,” South Hamilton girls head coach Emily Bochmann said. “Olivia had a season-best time, and we had several girls run very well despite not feeling good.”
The Hawks head to State Center for the West Marshall Invitational on Tuesday.
