Garcia, Hill earn Top-10 finishes for SH boys

The South Hamilton cross country teams ran at the Lynx Invitational Tuesday.
The girls placed sixth in the gold division with 135 points and the boys were eighth.
For the South Hamilton boys, Jesus Garcia and Hayden Hill grabbed Top-10 spots.
Garcia (17:41.49) was sixth and Hill (17:57.53) was seventh.
Evan Gibson (23:47.58) was 49th. Also running for the Hawks was Trevor Zanker (53rd in (24:16.13), Kaden Greenlee (54th in 24:28.97), Sterling Dietzel (56th in 25:00.12) and Mason Roethler (57th in 25:52.76).
For the Hawk girls, Olivia Beaune (23:45.12) placed 11th. Cici Herrick was also in the Top-15, taking the 15th spot in a time of 23:59.72).
“We had five runners set season bests and made great progress with our packs,” said South Hamilton girls coach Emily Bochmann. “We had strong kicks from the girls. Cici and Olivia led the way running side by side throughout the race only separating as they kicked it into the finish line.”
South Hamilton’s Bianca Seaton (26:56.47) was 32nd. Rounding out the scoring for the Hawks was Isabel Swenson (26:45.77) and Kayley Zanker (27:48.52) in 38th and 39th respectively.
Also running was Rosemary Chammess (28:12.66) in 42nd.
“Bianca kept them in sight to start with before falling back. Kayley, Isabel, and Rosemary had a strong pack through mile two,” Bochmann said. “Laurel had a season best by about a minute and Vivian out kicked another runner right at the finish line.
“We will need to work on going out a bit more controlled in our first mile as we went out a bit hard, but overall ran well.”
Mara Davis was the individual champion and Roland-Story was the team champion followed by St. Edmond and Manson Northwest Webster.
South Hamilton is back in action next Thursday when they run at the Gilbert Invitational.
