The Webster City softball team sent their seniors out in style with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden.

The Lynx (6-16 overall, 3-11 in the North Central Conference) plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning after the Cadets (10-10, 7-7) had taken a 2-1 lead in the top half of the frame.

Breanna and Jaylyn Bahrenfuss both drove in runs for Webster City. Hailey Brim had two hits — including a double — and a run scored, while Jakaela Cherry tripled.

Cloe Savitski and Briley VanDeer both scored the other Lynx runs.

Cherry finished with a complete game four-hitter, allowing two unearned runs. She walked seven, but worked out of trouble and recorded four strikeouts.

Webster City honored seniors Savitski, Breanna Bahrenfuss and Lydia VanDeer.

The Lynx kept the momentum going by taking down Eagle Grove the next night, 7-5. Freshman Morgan Tempel had three hits for Webster City, as did junior Morgan Hackbarth, who doubled twice.

Breanna Bahrenfuss drove in a pair, and Lydia VanDeer was 2-for-3 with a double.

Cherry struck out five with another complete game, surrendering four earned runs. The Eagles were 15-9 on the season before the Lynx prevailed.

Webster City was up 4-1 after three innings and hung on from there. Two insurance runs in the seventh wound up being the difference.

The Lynx head to Southeast Valley on Monday. Their Class 4A regional opener is on Thursday at home versus Waterloo East.

Starting at $3.46/week.
