Lynx girls 4th at IF-A

IOWA FALLS — The Webster City girls track and field team took advantage of ideal conditions here Monday night.

The Lynx placed fourth overall behind Grundy Center, Humboldt and host Iowa Falls-Alden at the Cadet Relays.

Both the sprint medley and distance medley relays took home second place finishes, as Kali Hartnett, Cloe Savitski and Isabel Grossoehme ran on each quartet.

Isabel Weinschenk completed the sprint medley, while Tristyn Wright did the same on the distance medley.

Savitski was also one of three individuals to place third, doing so in the 200-meter run. Adysen Poppen brought home bronze in the shot put and Jakaela Cherry was third in the discus.

“We had a few excellent performances with some significant personal records and season bests,” WCHS head coach Tyler Mosbach said. “At times, I felt like we could have competed with a little more passion and focus. With that being said, we now officially start the championship phase of our season.

“It’s time to reload and bring the competitive fire all the way to the finish line.”

Weinschenk, Grossoehme, Wright and Savitski placed third in the 4×100 relay, Evie Davis, Ariauna Reed, Haedyn Soesbe and Carmen Santiago were third in the 4×400 relay, and Reed, Lydia VanDeer, Davis and Soesbe took third in the 4×800 relay.

Briley VanDeer added a fourth in the 100 hurdles, as did Amanda Lahr in the shot put and Avery Poppen in the discus. Reed finished sixth in the 800.

Hartnett, Briley VanDeer, Zoie MacRunnel and Shamyla Millner won the junior varsity 4×100 relay race.

Webster City heads to Clear Lake on Thursday for the North Central Conference meet.

Starting at $3.46/week.
