South Hamilton girls come up short
JEWELL — The South Hamilton girls basketball team dropped two straight contests to finish their first full week of the year.
On Thursday, the Hawks (0-3) fell to Iowa Falls-Alden (56-29). They then dropped a tight 35-33 game to Nevada on Friday night.
“Iowa Falls was definitely the aggressor and we didn’t match their intensity,” said SH head coach Mark Henderson. “We once again turned the ball over way too much, and in this game those turnovers led to easy breakaway layups.
“We have to find a way to help our teammates out and get our offense going.”
Emma Lammers came off the bench to lead South Hamilton with six points. Claire Hewitt pulled down 10 rebounds.
“We tried a few different things defensively this game, and again I thought our defense was alright,” Henderson said. “Where we did struggle was transition defense, as Iowa Falls was able to score 24 points.
“When we were set in a half court defense we actually did a pretty good job of forcing some difficult shots.”
The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday evening at Saydel for a 6 p.m. varsity tip time.
