Hawks pull away for road victory at PAC

POCAHONTAS — A five-run fourth helped propel the South Hamilton baseball team to a 10-2 victory over Pocahontas Area here Monday night.

With the win, the Hawks reached .500 on the season, moving to 10-10 overall and reaching double-digit victories for the sixth time in the last eight years.

Tjerdan Johnson was 3-for-3 with a home run, driving in three while also scoring three times. The senior reached base a fourth time on a walk.

Braden Young and Landon Greufe each had two hits with Landon Sogard driving in a pair. Prestin Van De Pol scored twice and had an RBI with Young recording a triple.

Van De Pol pitched four innings, striking out four with one earned run and three hits allowed to earn the win. Sogard tossed three innings of three-hit ball, striking out three.

South Hamilton has won five in a row, allowing just eight runs in those games. They have scored 35 since a 3-2 loss to top-ranked (Class 2A) West Marshall last month.

This was the final regular season game for the Hawks, who open 1A, Substate 3 play Saturday at home vs. BCLUW.
