The Webster City boys capped last week off with a 61-48 setback to top-ranked (Class 3A) Clear Lake here Friday night.

Coming off a 54-53 win over Iowa Falls-Alden, the Lynx were looking to pull the upset and deny the Lions a perfect run through the North Central Conference.

Clear Lake (19-0 overall) had already clinched the outright league crown. They have now won each of the past four meetings between the two and 14 of the last 15 overall.

The Lions led 39-22 at halftime and never looked back. The Lynx did trim the deficit to single digits with a 17-8 third-quarter edge, but Clear Lake closed out the win from there.

Webster City (6-13) concludes the regular season with two more home games this week. They host Algona in the final NCC game of the season on Tuesday before welcoming Boone for Senior Night Thursday.

Postseason assignments for the Lynx and all of 3A should be released this week.
