JEWELL — It was business as usual once again for the South Hamilton football team here this past Friday night.

The Hawks improved to 4-1 on the year with a 66-14 victory over Nodaway Valley.

A 20-point first quarter was followed up by 30 points in the second as South Hamilton finished with 441 yards rushing. Nick Severseike had 102 and two scores with Jose Babcock going for 100 and a touchdown.

The Hawks rushed for 441 yards as a squad.

Kolby Hodnefield took both of his handoffs to the end zone, scoring on runs of 50 and 36 yards. Prestin Van De Pol scored a 32-yard TD on his only carry, with Landon Greufe and Maddux Becker doing the same.

“The offense we run is tough to have five days to get ready for, which is definitely an advantage for us,” South Hamilton head coach Paul Skartvedt said. “But I know with the toughness that our kids have and the determination to do a great job, that helps with our production.

“We call is playing Hawk football and they take pride in the toughness that we have in wanting to be a leader in rushing offense.”

Greufe had a 51-yard run to paydirt and Becker, a freshman, scored on a 50-yard run. The Hawks finished the night with an average of 20 yards per rush.

Tjerdan Johnson completed both of his pass attempts for 70 yards and a score, with all of it going to Landon Sogard.

On defense, Owen Duns had six tackles, Babcock was in on 5.5 and Carter Stolee had five stops. Gunderson picked off a pass.

“The experience that we have along both our offensive and defensive lines helps tremendously,” Skartvedt said. “We have guys that have been starting for two and three years, and they’re helping coach and teach the young guys how to be productive in practice and in games.”

South Hamilton heads to Ogden on Friday. The Bulldogs fell to 3-2 with a loss to Woodward-Granger last week.

Starting at $3.46/week.
