3 HAWKS IN DOUBLE FIGURES IN WIN OVER IF-A: Sophomores Makena Galetich and Ashlyn Erickson, and junior Hallee Feaker all scored in double figures, as they led the South Hamilton girls’ basketball team to a 51-34 non-conference victory over Iowa Falls-Alden last night in Iowa Falls.

Galetich led the way with 15 points, 10 of them coming in the second half. Erickson pitched in 12 and Feaker added 11. Mackenzy Grady (five points) and Caleigh Hewitt (four points) combined for nine more.

South Hamilton (2-1) raced out to a 20-7 lead after one quarter. IF-A got within seven early in the third, but the Hawks pushed the margin back to 12 entering the fourth and never allowed the Cadets back into contention.

Hailey Bridgewater paced IF-A (0-3) with 11 points. Ella Sharar and Addison Dennis both registered eight points.

CADETS KNOCK OFF SH BOYS BY 10: Iowa Falls-Alden opened up a 31-23 lead at the half and kept South Hamilton at arm’s length throughout the second half to win a non-conference boys’ basketball game, 55-45, last night in Iowa Falls.

The Hawks (0-2) pulled without four points with four minutes remaining, but the Cadets (2-0) scored eight of the game’s final 10 points.

Tucker Clabaugh paced South Hamilton with 13 points and Teagan Trask tossed in 10 in a losing effort. Owen Renaud added nine more and Landen Skartvedt finished with six.

Iowa Falls-Alden’s Blake Janssen led all scorers with 23 points. He had 11 in the first half and then canned a pair of 3-pointers after the intermission.

South Hamilton will make its home debut this evening when it hosts Perry in Heart of Iowa Conference play.
