LAKE CITY — The South Hamilton volleyball team went 3-3 and finished in the middle of the field at Saturday’s South Central Calhoun Invite.

The Hawks claimed 2-0 victories over Belmond-Klemme (21-18, 21-8), IKM (21-17, 21-16) and Audubon (21-18, 21-13). They dropped 2-0 matches to South Central Calhoun (21-13, 21-15) and Pocahontas Area (21-18, 23-21), as well as a 2-1 decision to Greene County (21-15, 15-21, 15-13).

South Central Calhoun went 6-0 on the day to capture its own invite championship.

Consistency in the front row was hard to come by for the Hawks (11-10), who hit just .083 as a team. They smacked 81 kills, but piled up 54 attack errors in 327 swings.

Hailey Cavan continued to round back into shape, as she hammered a team-high 30 kills. Hailey Diersen laced 20 and put together a team-best .264 kill efficiency. Caleigh Hewitt added 14 more.

Emily Greenfield handled all of the setting duties and distributed 71 assists on the day.

Cavan and Greenfield were the top defenders with 38 digs each, while Kaylee Oskvig was close behind with 37. Jessica Woodall finished with 18 and Miranda Deppe contributed 14.

Serving was a strength throughout the day. South Hamilton registered 41 aces, led by Cavan and Woodall with 10 each. Mackenzy Grady came off the bench and lashed nine.
