Don’t confuse science and government with God

To the Editor: Let me begin with the definition of oxymoron: a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction. Now the definition of miracle: a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency. To the Editor: The Los Angeles Times editorial in the March 8th edition was very critical of President Biden for not imposing sanctions against Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (who will be referenced as MBS for the rest of this letter) of Saudi Arabia after the report released by the office of Director of National Intelligence on 2/26/21 proving MBS ordered the murder of U. Volunteers at COVID clinics find experience rewarding

To the Editor: Congratulations to Shelby Kroona, her staff and the volunteers who made helping our residents get a COVID-19 shot through Hamilton County Public Health a rewarding experience last week. During this anxious time, it was comforting to see a well-organized operation during which nurses were applauded and people worked together. I was so glad to help. It was absolutely awesome. Appreciates support of Enhance Hamilton County Foundation

To the editor: HERO, the Help Entertain and Restore Organization, the owner/operator of the Webster Theater would like to thank the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation for the generous grant that they gave us to help with COVID 19 relief. As most of you probably know, the theater was closed from March 17, 2020 to October 16, 2020. We were able to cut expenses to the bare bones, but there are always ongoing expenses. We were able to sell popcorn and candy on Friday nights until the first of June and then work with the City of Webster City to sell concessions during movies in the park ...

Lowering voting age isn’t the answer

To the Editor: Some in the US Congress are proposing lowering the legal voting age to 16 years of age. Some argue it is a ploy to increase the liberal voters, others argue it is because if you are old enough to pay payroll taxes you should be able to vote. Science tells us the human brain reaches full maturity around age 25. I recall being age 16 and recall my children being age 16, I also have grandchildren age 16. Let’s come together for something special

To the editor: For too long, we have been defined by who we voted for in the last election. We have been defined by our opinion of wearing masks or whether we think vaccines are effective. Politics and public health are essential facets of everyday life. However, I see community as more important. Upon the news that Webster City will once again be a pass-through town in the 48th edition of RAGBRAI, I saw a perfect opportunity for Webster City to come together as a community.
