Inez “Peachy” Fortune-Hanus, 85, of Webster City, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Richard Laird, officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Inez Phipps, the daughter of William and Ethel Brixey Phipps, was born on June 18, 1933 in Fraser. She attended schools in Odgen. She married Kenny Fortune and the couple later divorced in 1972. She married Dean Hanus on December 27, 1996. Dean preceded her in death in 1998. Inez worked various jobs over the years including taxi driver, school bus driver, bartender and working at Hy Vee.
She is survived by her children, Pat (Bob) Easter of Claire, Louise Wolff of Webster City, Allen (Kris McCoy) Fortune of Stanhope, Barb (Kyle Gillen) Westfall of New Carlisle, OH; step-children, Daryl Hanus of St. Louis, Dean Hanus Jr. of Fort Dodge, DeAnn Sudderth of Huntsville, Al; seven grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Dean; sister Delores; and son, John Fortune.
She was baptized at the Harcourt Methodist Church. Inez enjoyed quilting for herself and the Lehigh United Methodist Church and reading. She loved spending time with her cats and parakeets and most of all being with her family.
