City financial reports cited as ‘clean’ by auditors

The Monday night meeting of the council members for the city of Webster City, was dominated by the audit report prepared by Williams and Company, P.C. for the fiscal year 2024-2025. The overall summary: it was a clean report. The city has a AA- rating, which is considered very good. The presentation was made by Johanna Guhl representing the Williams and Company firm. She spent a few minutes summarizing the detailed 134 page report. The fund balance, a large indicator of a city’s management of funds, was “sitting well” with the auditors notation that this was a good thing. ...

Hamilton County Speedway chili supper this weekend

The 24th Annual Chili Supper will be held this weekend for the Hamilton County Speedway Association on Saturday, Feb. 21. This annual event will include hot laps at 5 p.m., the supper at 6 p.m. and auction at 7 p.m. The $10 admission includes the supper, voting rights and a $5 raffle ticket. Kids 12 and under eat free. This is a BYOB event, and the auction will be of sports racing memorabilia. Funds raised during this event will be used to continue this membership, and help with improvements at the Hamilton County Speedway.

Parent-Teacher Conference registrations needed soon

The Webster City Community Schools will have their Parent-teacher conferences from March 3 through 5. The conferences will be held from 2 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at all the school locations. Each child should be registered at the school that they attend. Parents are asked to register online at www.myconferencetime.com. Parents should register with their child’s homeroom teacher and children should attend the conference with their parents. All conferences are in person.

Kading Properties will host February Third Thursday Coffee

The Webster City Chamber of Commerce invites the community and business members to the Third Thursday Coffee event on Thursday. This will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at City Hall, located at 400 Second St. in Webster City. This month’s event will serve as both an open house and a networking opportunity for our community members and business owners.
