Heroes and a rodeo. Bike, that is.

Market Nights returns with an homage to hometown heroes

Market Night tonight will host the Webster City Police Department Bike Rodeo all while bringing some real heroes to town.

Hometown Hero Night is being presented in collaboration with Webster City Police Department, Iowa National Guard and Kendall Young Library, featuring the Iowa League of Heroes.

Market Night runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in downtown Webster City.

What’s in store?

The WCPD Bike Rodeo will provide a chance for kids ages 6 to 12 to test their bike skills in the 700 block of Second Street right in front of the Daily Freeman-Journal. Bike drawings will take place throughout the evening.

To participate, kids must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your bike and your helmet.

Don’t have a helmet? The WCPD will have a few extras on hand.

This event will not only give kids a chance to test their bike skills, but it’s also an opportunity to learn more about bike safety and register their bikes. You can also learn more about helmet sizing and fitting.

Also, some real hometown heroes will be on the scene. Meet members of the Webster City Fire Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and explore their emergency vehicles up close.

Iowa League of Heroes, presented by Kendall Young Library, will offer some surprise superhero appearances.

Plus, the National Guard climbing wall is back.

The sound track to all this fun is music by Stubble Trouble in the Availa Bank Plaza.

Musician Spenser Rahm, of Clear Lake, performs a blend of classic country, rock and modern hits.
