Radon testing program will be held in Ellsworth
ELLSWORTH — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Hamilton County and Ellsworth Public Library will be hosting a discussion on the dangers of radon gas, the importance of testing, and effective mitigation strategies.
This free informational event will be held on Monday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ellsworth Public Library.
Radon is a radioactive, colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that seeps up from the ground and can accumulate in homes.
Iowa is classified as a high-risk state for radon exposure, and elevated levels of the gas can be found in homes of all types–whether new or old, well-sealed or drafty, with or without basements. The only way to detect radon levels in a home is through testing.
All attendees will receive a free radon test kit.
Register by calling the Hamilton County Extension office at 515-832-9597 or sign up online at https://go.iastate.edu/XR5FAL.
