Kendall Young Library has a month of adult programs

Kendall Young Library will be having Adult programs throughout the month of May.

NAMI — In Our Own Voices — Join the staff on Tuesday, May 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. to hear a presentation from the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

NAMI In Our Own Voice presentation works to change attitudes, assumptions and ideas about people with mental health conditions.

This presentation provides:

. An opportunity to hear open and honest perspectives on a highly misunderstood topic;

. A chance to ask leaders questions, allowing for a deeper understanding of mental health conditions and dispelling of stereotypes and misconceptions;

. The understanding that people with mental health conditions have lives enriched by hopes, dreams and goals;

. Information on how to learn more about mental health and get involved with the mental health community.

Backyard Chicken Keeping and Chicken Fest — Join us on Thursday, May 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to hear from Ginger Stephenson from Murray McMurray Hatchery as she presents on backyard chicken keeping and gives a preview of the Murray Fest Midwest Festival coming in June and July. No chickens or prior knowledge of chickens required; come find out something new.

Adult Book Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to join in the May Book Club discussion on the book “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” by Gail Honeyman. This meeting is on Tuesday, May 14, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. A book for the June Book Club will be announced at this time.

Seniors Share — Back by popular demand, Kendall Young Library is hosting a Seniors Share event on Thursday, May 16, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Seniors are invited to gather and share a hobby, collection or short story with others. A time limit will be established based on interest. Patrons that would like to participate by listening are also invited.

Adult DIY — Kendall Young Library will host Adult DIY on Tuesday, May 21, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Patrons will have the opportunity to walk step by step in painting a watercolor creation. It is a free event and no sign-up is required.

Adult Bingo — Tuesday, May 28, from 1 to 2 p.m., Kendall Young Library will host Adult Bingo.

SPICE Club — Kendall Young Library invites you to add some spice to your life with the KYL Spice of the Month Club. Turmeric is the featured May spice. Samples will be available throughout the month while supplies last. Each month there will be a featured herb or spice. A limited number of kits will be available each month with a small sample and information about the spice, and a couple recipes to try.
