WCCT season opener to pay tribute to 9/11 anniversary

Auditions for ‘110 Stories’ set for July 25, 26

Auditions for Webster City Community Theatre’s season opener, “110 Stories,” will be held Sunday, July 25 and Monday, July 26 at 6 p.m.

There are roles for 12 adults — 7 males and 5 females. Tryouts will be at the community theatre at 1001 Willson Avenue in Webster city.

Production dates for 110 STORIES are September 10, 11 and 12 as a tribute on the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

According to director Loween Getter, the play will be performed as a staged reading of the script written by Sarah Tuft. It is based on interviews with a mother, photojournalist, ironworker, chiropractor, homeless man, and others who saved lives that day. The playwright wove together the stories of 9/11 not shown on the news. Their unflinching, freaked-out and occasionally funny accounts take us back to when 9/11 was unimaginable, shocking, and horror-filled. It captures the resilience of New York City in its aftermath and humanizes history to reveal our compassionate natures.

Scripts will be available at Kendall Young Library for 3-day check out July 19 to 23.
