Valentine’s Day tradition returns … in a slightly different way

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and the Singing Valentines by the Webster City High School choir members and Webster City Vocal Booster Club is an annual tradition on that day. But this year, due to the pandemic, the group will be offering singing Valentines in a slightly different way.

On Friday, Feb. 12, high school singers will send singing valentines over the phone. Typically, the singers offer in-person valentines, but due to complex logistics and to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19, the decision was made to offer a phone-only event this year.

Those interested in ordering a singing valentine for a friend or loved one, are asked to fill out an online order form. Officials with the group said these Valentine tributes don’t have to be “romantic gestures.” They encouraged people to think about a friend or family member you haven’t seen in awhile, and make their day brighter with a valentine

Orders will be collected through Friday, Feb. 5. A phone valentine costs $5, and all proceeds go to the Webster City Vocal Boosters. These funds support the production of the annual Variety Show, and to cover other costs of necessary supplies.
