Council begins city manager search
Requests for proposals sought from search firms
The search for a new city manager will begin soon as the City Council Monday night looks to approve a letter requesting proposals from search firms.
The meeting at 6 p.m. will be held via the Zoom teleconferencing platform. Community members who wish to watch the meeting can join by using the meeting ID 859 1805 0621, or watch on the City’s Facebook page.
On Dec. 14, the Council approved a separation agreement with City Manager Jeff Sheridan and asked city staff to prepare a letter seeking proprosal from search firms.
Sheridan began his duties with the city in August 2019.
The Council will also consider the third reading of a proposed ordinance that would allow the Webster City Chamber of Commerce to receive an annual allotment from Hotel/Motel Tax grant funds. The ordinance proposes to allocate $27,000 per year from hotel/motel tax funds. The Chamber would then provide the City Council with an annual report on the use of the funds prior to the next year’s distribution of funds.
A public hearing will be set Monday night for the proposed plans and specifications and proposed contract and estimate of cost for the 2021 Street Reconstruction Project. The council is expected to set Feb. 1 at 6:05 p.m. at the date and time of the hearing.
Public Works Director Ken Wetzler, in a memo to the council, said the project would involve Second St., just east of Beach Street, to the bridge on Overpass Drive. Bid lettings would take place on Jan. 21 with the public hearing and the awarding of contracts set for Feb. 1. Project completion would be expected in November 2021.
In other business, the council is expected to refer the matter of a vacation of a portion of Union Street to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The council will also consider a resolution accepting and executing the easement from John and Shirley Svenson for the 2020 Water Main Repair Project.
Following the close of other business, the Council is expected to go into closed session to discuss the purchase or sale of real estate.
