Pack the Paddy Wagon

Food drive to benefit area pantries; cookout to aid local Special Olympics

— Submitted photo The vintage paddy wagon, owned by former Sheriff Dennis Hagenson, will be on display Sunday afternoon at Hy-Vee as the Hamilton County Peace Officers Association collects food and non perishable items to donate to the area food pantries. Also on Sunday, the group will hold a cook out to raise funds for the local Special Olympics.

Area residents are invited to stop out Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and help Pack the Paddy Wagon for a food drive to help local food pantries.

The event, hosted by the Hamilton County Peace Officers Association and Webster City Hy-Vee, will be held at the Hy-Vee Store. Donated food and nonperishable items will be accepted as they attempt to fill up the vintage paddy wagon with contributions. The wagon is owned by retired Hamilton County Sheriff Dennis Hagenson.

Officials said they are asking for help to ensure all area residents are able to have enough food and supplies for the upcoming holiday season. The items will be donated to Hamilton County food pantries.

Also on Sunday, there will be a cook-out with proceeds going directly to the local Special Olympics.
