‘Cars’ to be shown Friday Night

Free movie will be screened at Availa Bank Plaza

Friday night will bring the second in a series of free outdoor movies set for Availa Bank Plaza.

The City of Webster City will be playing movies from a projector on a large inflatable screen on the stage in the plaza. The movies will continue each Friday night through Sept. 4.

This week, the Disney/Pixar movie “Cars” will be shown beginning at 9:15 p.m. The movie is sponsored by P and P Electric.

The Webster Theater, just down the block from the plaza, will be open for those who wish to purchase popcorn, beverages or use the restrooms.

Last weekend, about 80 people gathered to watch “Grease.” Kay Ross of HERO told the Daily Freeman-Journal organizers were pleased with the turnout.

“I think it’s a really good family activity, something the whole family can enjoy,” Ross said. “We saw people of all ages at the movie Friday night. And it’s great, considering there’s very little else that families can do right now.”
