Timmons seeks re-election

Doug Timmons

Sheriff Douglas D. Timmons has announced he is running for re-election in the 2020 election season as the incumbent Republican candidate.

Timmons, 48, a Republican, is a 20-year veteran of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. He was a deputy sheriff for 16 years in Hamilton County prior to being elected sheriff. Prior to serving Hamilton County he was a deputy sheriff in Winnebago County for more than five years.

“It has been my honor to serve the citizens of Hamilton County for the last three years,” Timmons said. “I will continue to work hard for the citizens of Hamilton County.”

“I set a lot of goals when I ran for sheriff in 2016, I think we’ve accomplished many of the goals I set to obtain but, there is still a lot to get done and that is why I am announcing that I am running for re-election in 2020,” he continued. “As your sheriff, I believe that we need to keep our citizens informed on current trends in crime, so they don’t become a victim. We will continue to do this through social media and our relationships with our local news media.”

“It’s important we stay involved with our youth so when issues do arise, they feel comfortable talking with law enforcement and do not fear law enforcement,” Timmons added.

Timmons has been married to his wife Mari Jo for 23 years and they have one son who is currently in college. Timmons and his family reside in Stratford.

“I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving the citizens of Hamilton County for another term,” he said. “On June 2, 2020 I ask for your vote to re-elect Doug Timmons as your Hamilton County Sheriff.”
