NEH Elementary holds spring art show and concert

BLAIRSBURG — A Night at the Show was theme of the Northeast Hamilton Spring Music Concert held Tuesday night in the Blairsburg school gym.

Under the direction of the Music and Band Instructor Elizabeth Schwake, and accompanied by Matt Schutt on the piano, students performed popular selections from the movies.

The Kindergarten students kicked off the show with their rendition of “My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music.” A few of their favorite things included cuddling with a puppy and playing on the swings.  They also performed “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” from “Song of the South” and “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” from “Mary Poppins.”

The combined choir of the First and Second Grade performed “The Bare Necessities” from “The Jungle Book”, “The Candy Man” from “Charlie & the Chocolate Factor” and “Happiness” from “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”

The Third and Fourth Grade students performed the bouncy tune of “The Wells Fargo Wagon” from“The Music Man” with several students performing solos.  They also sang “The Rainbow Connection” from “The Muppet Movie”, and “I Won’t Grow Up” from“Peter Pan.” The Fourth Grade Recorder group performed “I’ve Got Rhythm” from “An American in Paris.”

 The Northeast Hamilton Sixth Grade Band performed several selections during the Spring Concert Tuesday night including the theme from Star Wars.

The Fifth and Sixth Grade students took the audience on a journey with “We’re Off to See the Wizard” from “The Wizard of Oz.” They also sang “Do-Re-Mi” from “The Sound of Music” and “A Million Things” from “The Greatest Showman.”

The Fifth Grade Band performed “Professional Dance”, “Rio Con Brio”, “Chorale” and “Michael Finnegan.”

The Sixth Grade Band completed the evening’s entertainment with performances of “Colossus,” “Creatures in the Attic” and the theme from “Star Wars.”

The NEH Art Show was held in conjunction with the music concert with students’ projects on display in the Commons area. The Art show was under the direction of Art Teacher Ben Hobart.
