Dedication for solar array set

Celebration is Saturday at Little Wall Lake

JEWELL – Hamilton County Conservation, in partnership with Eagle Point Solar of Dubuque, will hold a ribbon cutting and dedication of the new solar array system located at Little Wall Lake Park, south of Jewell on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to noon.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. and the public will be allowed to tour the solar array system. At 11:15 a.m., Larry Steffen of Eagle Point Solar will present an overview of the solar array along with addressing any questions regarding the entire project or the project’s PPA funding. Little Wall Lake Park will become the first County Park in Iowa to have a 100 percent offset of their electrical needs by producing its own power through the solar array.

“This project is over three years in the making, and has finally come to fruition” according to Conservation Director, Brian Lammers. This project was made possible with partnerships with the Hamilton County Supervisors, Eagle Point Solar, Hamilton County Conservation Board, and Alliant Energy.

Along with this dedication, Hamilton County Conservation will also be introducing Michelle Pelzer of Red Oak as the new Park Ranger assigned to Little Wall Lake Park. Her duties began May 1st.
