Sheriff’s Office to open with restrictions

Visitors will be asked to wear masks

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has decided to make services more accessible to citizens. Starting on Monday, the Sheriff’s Office will be making appointments for certain services by appointment only.

The doors of the courthouse will remain locked, a member of the Sheriff’s Office will meet you at the southeast doors of the courthouse to assist you. The public is required to wear a mask, and they will not be provided.

According to Sheriff Doug Timmons, the following services are by appointment only:

• Fingerprinting, subject will be required to answer COVID 19 questions and have their temperature taken to enter the Sheriff’s Office. The regular fees apply.

• Video visitation of inmates, this is limited to one room in the vestibule of the south east doors of the courthouse. Only one visitor per visit will be allowed to meet the social distancing requirements.

The following procedures will remain the same:

• The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will be accepting new and renewals of Iowa Permits to Carry and Permits to Acquire by the following means.

• The Applications can be printed off the Sheriff’s Office website at the following link:

Print the desired form and completely fill the form out and sign, making sure you thoroughly read the application and answer the questions correctly.

There are several methods of delivery to the Sheriff’s Office. The form can be mailed to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, 2300 Superior Street Suite #8, Webster City, IA 50595. Applications can also be dropped off in a sealed envelope at the drop box in SE of the court house adjacent to the parking lot, addressed to the Sheriff’s Office.

Also include a colored copy of your identification (driver’s license), copy of your training on new permits and a check or money order. The prices are included in our website. Those that applied that needed to update their address on their driver’s license, can make an appointment with the Treasurer’s Office and do so and place a color copy in the drop box in the southeast corner of the court house parking lot, in an envelope addressed to the Sheriff’s Office.
