City employees graduate

City Employees Tim Danielson, superintendent of the water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant, Beth Chelesvig, administrative services director and Kent Harfst, recreation and public grounds director/assistant city manager, recently graduated from the Certified Public Manager program sponsored by Drake University and the State of Iowa.The Iowa Certified Public Manager Program is a nationally accredited certification for public sector managers and directors. Currently this designation is held by over 600 leading public sector professionals in Iowa and is the professional credential of choice for public sector leaders. To obtain this certification, these City staff members met two to three days a month for the past 18 months with a cohort group of 20 professionals from various agencies. To conclude the 18 month program, Chelesvig, Danielson, and Harfst worked with two other cohort members to develop a research topic titled: “Storm Water Runoff in Small to Medium Sized Communities in Iowa: An Investigation into the Problems and Solutions.”
