Inspection finds zero deficiencies at Southfield

Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” That’s why Southfield Wellness Community, owned by ABCM Corporation, is proud to announce the results of their state survey at the Independent and Assisted Living Apartments. They received what the health industry calls an insufficiency-free recertification, in other words, an inspection with zero deficiencies.

Rodney A. Roberts, Director of the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals said, “As part of our continuous improvement process, it is important to recognize those programs where the provision of care and service meets or exceeds expectations.”

An Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals inspector arrived at the Apartments to examine nursing, dietary, social services, activities and environmental concerns. This procedure is performed biannually to insure safety and quality of life for those tenants living at the apartments.

The inspection is only done at certified assisted living apartment facilities. Long term care insurance for assisted living apartment dwellers can only be used at certified homes such as Southfield Wellness Community.

Marilyn Middleton, Southfield marketing coordinator, said, “This insufficiency free survey means our conscientious efforts are paying off with superior quality care.” Southfield also offers long term nursing care, short term rehabilitation and respite care.
