Dr. Michaela Stenger, an independently licensed clinical social worker with a PsyD in Clinical Psychology, is providing mental health assessments and therapy for children, individuals, couples and families in the Ames and Webster City Offices.

Stenger also provides clinical supervision to individuals with a master’s degree in Social Work who are seeking independent licensure in the state of Iowa. In addition to her master’s in clinical social work from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, Stenger also has a multidisciplinary master’s degree from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, in Ethnic Studies and Anthropology as well as a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from California Southern University. Stenger is also trained in E.M.D.R and the utilization of dance and creative movement. She has developed programs incorporating dance and creative movement as well as researched and developed resources, locally and internationally, for individuals and families affected by Huntington’s Disease; all with the goal to promote independence.

Her work with other individuals and families of other cultures has focused on supporting the unique aspects of each individual and family within those cultures while providing education and support to local communities on incorporation of new citizens.

Stenger has over 25 years of experience working for and with teens, adults and the aging population and their families and the communities. Her roles were not only as a clinical therapist but also as an advocate, educator and mediator to allow individuals to define their identity and roles in lives. Stenger has provided counseling and education services to families and residents of Long Term Care and Assisted Living in addition to providing Telehealth Services to aging clients in other states.
