MedSpa treatments are now available at Shanti Wellness Day Spa in Webster City.

Mary Fortune, owner/esthetician of Shanti, received her certification and Iowa license to perform Intense Pulse Light and laser treatments in August. These treatments require extensive training and certification in Aesthetic Laser Procedures from The Laser Training Institute, a training division of Professional Medical Education Association Inc. The course is directed toward non-specialist physicians and non-physician laser operators providing cosmetic laser procedures.

MedSpa treatments include: IPL and E-Light Permanent Hair Reduction and Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation. E-Light combines the synergy of bipolar radiofrequency energy and light energies. Ultrasound Cavitation Body Contouring, RF skin tightening and laser hair restoration.

Fortune’s in-house, hands-on training was received from Greg Absten, who has been actively involved in the medical laser field for more than 30 years, with an initial background in critical care and surgery in the Allied Heath areas and critical care medicine. He is an internationally recognized lecturer and author on medical lasers, and has taught hundreds of surgical and nursing courses in every specialty over the years.
