Katie Elaine Weigel and Nickalus James Pettet were united in marriage on June 25, 2016 at Emerald Valley Golf & Resort in Creswell, Oregon. The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Rose King. The soloist was Carrie Black, friend of the bride. Ceremony readings were performed by Jackson Heiden, brother of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Hugh and Donna Weigel of Story City. She is the granddaughter of the late Bill and Fran East of Stanhope and the late Laurence and Eileen Weigel of rural Boone. The groom is the son of Randy Pettet of Medford, Oregon and Lisa Cameron of Grants Pass, Oregon. He is the grandson of Jim and Juanita Pettet of Grants Pass, Oregon, Allen and Barbara Flinn of Medrod, Oregon, and the late Dale and Beverly Joyce of Glendale, Oregon.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an off-the-shoulder white Casablanca lace gown. The bride wore her late grandmother Fran’s sterling silver bracelet and a diamond solitaire necklace that her mother wore to marry her father in 1978.

Ashley Stark, friend of the bride, served as matron of honor. Baylee Heiden, sister of the bride, served as bridesmaid. The flower girls were Bella and Ava Weston, nieces of the groom. Sean McLean, friend of the groom, served as best man. Lee Rydberg, friend of the groom, served as groomsman.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Roland-Story High School. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Russian and Communication Studies. In 2010 she earned a Master of Arts degree in Slavic Languages and Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and in 2012 she received a Master of Arts degree in International Education from The George Washington University. She now works at American University as an international student advisor. The groom is a 2004 graduate of Eagle Point High School in Eagle Point, Oregon. He graduated from the University of Oregon in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Sociology. In 2014 he earned a Master of Arts in Public Policy from The George Washington University. He now works at the Graduate School USA as a program specialist.

The bride and groom reside in Washington, DC and will honeymoon in Europe in winter 2016.
