Hayes, Johnston marry

Alison Hayes of Ames, daughter of Sonja and the late David Hayes of Ames, and Nathan Johnston of Ames, son of Will and Colette Johnston of Stanhope, were united in marriage at Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames, on September 20. The reception followed at the Moose Lodge in Ames.

The bride’s friend, Carly Tindall, of Webster City was the maid of honor. Other members of the party included Heather Howard of Cedar Falls, cousin of the bride, Megan Brandt of Des Moines, friend of the Bride and Melinda Johnston of Stanhope, sister of the groom. Personal attendants were college friends Mary Carlson of Ames, and Kendra Gansen of Des Moines.

The best man was Matthew Johnston, brother of the groom from Ames. Other members of the party included Andrew Hayes, brother of the bride of Ames, Luke Johnson, friend of the groom of Story City, and Anthony Battazzi, friend of the groom of Roland.

Ushers were friends Mark Gansen, Jake Loffredo, Carlton Ness, and Nick Oberender. Acolytes were Jacob Beaulieu and Mason Johnston cousins of the couple.

Wedding soloists were Leonard Anderson, grandfather of the bride of Webster City, Andrew Hayes, brother of the bride of Ames, and Patti Treibel friend of the bride of Webster City. Accompanists were Elaine Rasmussen, aunt of the groom and Levi Faas, friend of the bride.

The bride’s dress was a Britannia by Maggie Sottero a lace gown in ivory/light gold ombr over light gold, accented with detachable grosgrain ribbon belt with a circular Swarovski crystal brooch.

The bridesmaids wore Jim Hjelm A-line gowns with Newport Crinkle chiffon over a strapless emerald lining, with a sweetheart neckline. The groom and groomsmen wore matching charcoal tuxedos.

The bride graduated Webster City High School, and graduated from Iowa State University in elementary education. She is employed as a third grade teacher at Sawyer Elementary school in Ames. Nathan graduated High School from South Hamilton and Iowa State University with a degree in agriculture business. He is employed as an Area Team Leader in central Iowa for Beck’s Hybrids.

The couple has planned a honeymoon trip over the Christmas season. They reside in Ames.
